It seems some suppliers may have these in stock. Something to look out for.

Genuine ones don't have the word "service" after the LUK logo.. and neither should they have the word Valeo printed anywhere llol

where did you come up with euros being reputable?dont think ive ever had a coilpack/sensor/maf etc from em that didn't cause problems,took 6 egrs off em one time before I got one with the correct feedback voltage,the one on the car that I was changing flagged less faults!all were boxed/badged as Delphi but clearly weren't.contamination of the supply chain aint nuffin new and affects most suppliers to an extent and will continue to do so as long as everyone looks for bargains.

The problem is looking for bargains and suppliers selling cheap imitation parts to increase their sales and proffit margin,we try to only fit OE parts on electrical items it saves a lot of hard work for nothing as you stated its no fun fitting parts and then finding yourself in a worst position and checking the reading on parts are out of given tolerance range , I think that a lot of delphi parts are rejects and who would want to fit one of their TRX alternators or starter motors.

There have always been rumours about ECP selling fake goods. I used to buy a fair bit from them but the number of parts going back under warranty just got out of hand so I won't use them at all now.

I once had an EGR valve from them which came in a Pierburg box but the component was marked Tomkei (I think) Heavy Industries. But, to be fair, that did work!

Apparently it's in the public domain now so more can be said. If anything the topic title is not 100% accurate as they are not fake LUK clutches but remanufactured ones (made in Turkey) that are being sold as new by, as most either guessed or already knew, ECP. This isn't the first time that ECP have been accused of selling items which weren't exactly what was printed on the box but it is the first time where there is a "whistle blower" who was in a senior position within the company.

It's all hearsay Gaz but now the same basic story has come from three separate (and in the past at least) reliable sources. I first heard about it from a rep where the leaflet came from that I scanned and put into the first post but waited to hear what else was around. Of course it's all alleged for now but very rarely is there no smoke, blah blah. I've known ECP since the very early years in Wembley and even then they got a massive fine for running their whole system on pirated software.

from memory I think they were a division of Isuzu/suzuki so it was probably genuine,i assume it was for a gm product of some sort

Hmm, that's interesting because it was for a Vauxhall! But it doesn't alter the fact that I was getting a very high number of failures of parts I was buying from them.
Maybe I am being unfair (although I also had an (apparently) genuine Bosch MAF sensor which lasted precisely 45 miles before total failure) but I now use other aftermarket suppliers and get nothing at all like the problems I used to get from ECP. Trying to be fair though they were always very good about warranty claims, instant refunds!

ever heard the phrase practice makes perfect (rofl)

you shouldn't be having to return counterfeit parts in the first place,its one of the reasons we stopped using them unless desperate and no one else has got it,the level of warranty/returns was getting frightening,when you've changed the same bit 5 times you start doubting your own diagnosis(and so does the boss!)I hit the stage that if it was one of their bits I was fitting then I would draw a little boomerang on the bottom of my job sheet,it made life easier when it came back cos I knew who had supplied it.

We've just booked in a warranty job on a LUK clutch/flywheel fitted less than a month ago on a BMW before any of this came to light. Called the supplier and within 2 minutes they had agreed to send out replacements with their warranty form. It's never been that easy.

Oh, and the supplier in this case wasn't ECP. Makes me wonder now if this is a LUK problem as opposed to one trade supplier.

if its messing up your trade that you want then I am currently sitting in a deserted garage caused by some muppet shutting the m1 for about the 3rd sunday in a row,3 hrs of watching a road blocked with traffic stopping anyone getting to us with most of the surrounding area gridlocked till 2.00 when they open it again(after we finish)getting any parts counterfeit or otherwise is pretty unlikely....given that the punters cant get to us anyway it probably don't matter.

Fitting a bora clutch today, rang gsf told them it had a Sachs twin mass flywheel "can I have a complete clutch kit please " sure they say "what make is it I ask. ..Luk they say. ..oh I say are you sure it will fit to the Sachs flywheel. ..Should do they say. Luk clutch turns up and hey ho it's perfect except it does not fit on the flywheel dowels so they send another luk clutch and nope too small holes again on the pressure plate. Ring again and they send another luk clutch I open it up and it says Sachs on the clutch and pressure plate and it fits perfectly.
