There's no reason for rejection for a spring "incomplete"

I stand corrected, you use to be able to fail on an incomplete coil spring.

I remember what he said and at the time I had no idea how high up that person was in the chain of command. If you say he's top dog then great. I can still use that reply in the highly unlikely event that I ever need to. It's as official as we're ever going to get on the subject by the looks of things.

1. A suspension component or its attachment
bracket or linkage:
• missing where one is fitted as standard
• cracked, fractured or insecure
• weld cracked
• severely distorted
• damaged, corroded or worn to such an
   extent that its strength is seriously reduced
• retaining nut, bolt or rivet missing
• which is adjustable and is loose in its
  adjustment threads, or its locking device
  insecure or missing.
  Note:
  It is not always possible to determine the
  presence and effectiveness of certain types of
  locking devices e.g. locking fluid or ‘nyloc’ nuts.

The correct RfR has already been provided by DVSA in my post yesterday from Gaz's original post from a few months back Darmech. Only need to use that one mate unless you cancel the test

David I disagree.
I feel my RfR is a much better reason for refusal than the indirect reasons used above.
You would find yourself in an argument with somebody over vague reasons for failure.
I am sticking to my RfR and that is what I wouls expect at my Station.

They obviously can't cover every suspension type out there. They've given us specific sections for the most common types. Use those sections for those suspension types or specfic suspension items i.e. a coil spring.

I've had my reply from VOSA (now DVSA) and shared it with the forum. It's in black and white and addresses the issue directly. I don't see why you feel the need to take a different stance on it? Not saying there's an issue with the RfR you would use, but we now all know there won't be an issue with the "not correctly located" RfR. Another member on here (sorry, I've forgot which) got a very good reply about fast track items and no one seems to have an issue with that. The same channels were used to get that reply.

I wonder if someone near Gaz is selling second hand springs on eBay?

General covers all items that don't have a dedicated section in the IM. Coil springs have a dedicated section so they have dedicated RfR's too.

You may disagree Darmech but the info came from Bristol (MOT HQ), they make the rules mate.
